Considering Your Needs
I’ve been helping people navigate the world of self-storage, and in my experience I’ve found that most people have the same questions when it comes to storing their belongings at one of our safe and secure facilities. To help make the process as fast and easy as possible, here are some things you should think about before you call or stop by your local Extra Attic.
How many items do you need to fit inside your storage unit?
Extra Attic has storage units in several different sizes available, ranging from 5’x5’ all the way to 10’x50’ and every size in between, depending on the facility. Taking a moment to think about your specific needs will help the manager on duty assist you in determining what size storage unit you’re going to need to rent. If you are having trouble visualizing the size of our units, I always suggest new customers stop by. I’m happy to talk to you about your needs and give you a tour of our different options. This is the best way to make sure you’re renting the right size and getting the most out of your self-storage experience.
Do you need to store your items in a climate controlled storage unit or a regular storage unit?
Extra Attic offers both climate controlled and regular storage units. Many people aren’t sure how to best store their items and need help figuring it out, which I’m happy to do! As a general rule, climate controlled storage is a good option for delicate household items or belongings that you need to store for four months and longer. A good rule of thumb is to consider whether you’d be comfortable storing these particular items in a garage. If so, then regular storage should be fine. If not, then climate controlled is the way to go.
Are you trying to store something large?
At Extra Attic, our units aren’t just for holiday decorations and seasonal clothes. We also offer space large enough to store the big things in your life, such as your boat, RV, or trailer. Before you bring these things down to your local Extra Attic location, take a moment to measure it from the front end or hitch, to the furthest back point. This will help the manager assist you in securing the right storage space for you.
By taking a moment to ask yourself these very important questions, you’ll be on your way to storing your belongings like a pro. Stay tuned for part two in next month’s blog, where I’ll be talking about what to look for when visiting your local Extra Attic facility.
