4 Ways to Make Spring Cleaning Easy

It’s finally spring in North Carolina! One of our shortest seasons (because let’s face it, summer’s heat and humidity will be here any day now) spring is a special time. The flowers are blooming, the nights are still cool, and the mosquitos haven’t gotten too bad yet. Which makes it a great time of the year to clean and organize your home—especially before summer vacations to the beach and mountains kick in.

If you’re dreading the annual spring cleaning bonanza, we have good news. The following tips will make this year’s deep clean a breeze. With a little planning, some elbow grease, and a bit of creativity, you’ll be able to enjoy your summer vacation, guilt free. Ready to get started?

Rent a storage unit from Extra Attic Self-Storage.

We may be biased, but we believe this first step is vital. Renting a storage unit and gaining a bit of extra space will allow you to put rarely used items away, freeing up room and helping you see what you’re working with. It will be much easier to clean and organize, and you’ll have plenty of space for all the new memories you’ll bring home from vacations and staycations.

Clean your windows.

With the longer days, we get to enjoy more sunshine streaming through out windows—but only if the glass is free of dust, dirt and grime! Whip out the Windex and clean the inside and outside of your windows. While you’re at it, dust the blinds and run the curtains through the wash. This will allow all that beautiful spring sunshine into your home and make your whole house feel fresh and clean.

Shampoo your carpets.

This is a big job, and that’s why it’s done so infrequently. If you have a lot of carpet in your home, consider hiring a professional or renting a steam cleaner and doing it yourself. Deep cleaning your carpet once or twice a year will extend its life and make your home healthier, too.

Clean upholstered furniture.

Couches and chairs get a lot of use, especially during the winter months when we’re cooped up inside. Now that you’re spending more time outdoors, it’s time to refresh your upholstery. Vacuum under the pillows, shampoo as needed, and doing forget to look under the cushions. Who knows what you’ll find! Make sure to check tags or labels to ensure you don’t damage or stain your furniture as you work.

We hope these tips help you have the best spring yet! To get started, contact Extra Attic Self Storage and start your spring cleaning journey today.
